The 86th Warriors' Day Parade
August 18, 2007 - We Remembered Vimy Ridge

At the 2007 Warriors' Day Parade we marked the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. In the early morning of April 9th 1917, Canada' s brave soldiers began their incredible assault against the German enemy forces occupying Vimy Ridge. Where other armies had tried before and failed, the Canadians succeeded. The cost however was tremendous, over the next four days 3,600 Canadian soldiers were killed and 5,000 more were wounded.

During the early years of The Warriors' Day Parade, thousands of World War One Veterans marched and many of their wounded comrades were present at the parade in wheelchairs and stretchers. In 2007 and every year we remember them and the ones that were left behind. We owe them everything!

This year our Reviewing Officer was Lieutenant-General Walter J. Natynczyk CMM, MSC, CD Vice Chief of The Defence Staff.
